There is currently no data showing the impact of the coronavirus on pregnant women. But according to the Centres for Disease Control (CDC), pregnant women are more vulnerable to respiratory viruses because of their weakened immune system.
This can be a very stressful time for many expecting mothers. Mothers are feeling the pressure of having to keep themselves safe and their babies safe from the coronavirus. Add to this the fear of knowing you cannot have any physical contact with family members and practising social distancing is especially difficult. There are also no visitors allowed in maternity wards.
As expectant mothers need to access health care facilities during their pregnancy, taking the necessary precautions is vital.
We trust and believe that all healthcare facilities are taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all patients.
