On my infertility journey I have had many days where all I want is a cupcake, my bed and miracle. Those days where the best advice you get is ‘you just need to relax and then you’ll get pregnant’. Psssh, if only they knew….You feel paralyzed by worry, fraught with rage and down in the dumps. Have you ever felt stuck in an emotional state that you can’t seem to get out of?
It is on these days that we all need our own ‘pick-me-ups’, where the burden on our shoulders feels just too much to handle. One of my favourite things to do on days like these is to turn to my playlist and crank up the music. I find music brings a sense of calmness and uplifts my spirits almost instantaneously. Listening to your favourite music triggers the brain to release the feel good chemical called dopamine that helps fade away a bad mood.
