Getting Through Infertility: Playlist Songs That Encourages Me

On my infertility journey I have had many days where all I want is a cupcake, my bed and miracle. Those days where the best advice you get is ‘you just need to relax and then you’ll get pregnant’. Psssh, if only they knew….You feel paralyzed by worry, fraught with rage and down in the dumps. Have you ever felt stuck in an emotional state that you can’t seem to get out of?

It is on these days that we all need our own ‘pick-me-ups’, where the burden on our shoulders feels just too much to handle. One of my favourite things to do on days like these is to turn to my playlist and crank up the music. I find music brings a sense of calmness and uplifts my spirits almost instantaneously. Listening to your favourite music triggers the brain to release the feel good chemical called dopamine that helps fade away a bad mood.

Here is my top 10 playlist songs on my encouragement playlist, in no specific order:

  1. Michael Jackson-Beat it
  2. Journey – Don’t Stop Believin’
  3. Rick Astley – Never Gonna Give You Up
  4. Earth, Wind & Fire – September
  5. Diana Ross – I’m Coming Out
  6. Aretha Franklin – I say a little prayer
  7. Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance With Somebody
  8. Janet Jackson – That’s The Way Love Goes
  9. Toni Braxton – Un-Break My Heart
  10. Beyoncé – Crazy In Love

I’d love to know if you have any song recommendations to help stay optimistic and feel powerful. Let me know in the comments below.

No matter where you are in your journey we hope this post helps you feel less alone and encourages you in your journey to becoming a mother. There is hope and it’s okay to feel grief and hope simultaneously. It is up to you to find that something that will cheer you up and remind you to continue smiling. I believe this is something every woman needs to find on their own and in their own time. Hopefully this playlist blog inspires you to create your own encouraging playlist.
